Task 5: WebQuest Details

Today you should focus on defining the following items of your WebQuest:

the task (aim)
the final product (form and content)
the process - WHAT and HOW the students should do
- specify the sub-tasks
- suggest the order in which the sub-tasks should be fulfilled
- predict problems and questions which may arise and suggest answers/give advice

  1. 1. Task - You will be divided into teams of four, and each of you will become an egyptologist for a while.

    2. You will then bring all your knowledge together with the rest of your team and produce a power point presentation to share this information with the rest of the class.

    3.Each team will consist of:photographer, archeologist, linguist and a leader.Each of them will deal with specific aspects of the Egyptian history.

  2. 1. Task - You will be divided into groups of five
    and become narrators, scenarists
    and actors.

    2. The final product will be a drama. Each
    group will play a 10-minute scene.

    3. Each group will choose one tragedy
    and each group rewrite its end.
    You have to read the work which you chose.
    Try to write it similarly.

  3. 1. Task: Everybody will be working alone and become a biographer, an analyst and picks president of the USA.

    2. The final product: PowerPoint presentation comparing 2 president candidates, essay - why did you select that president?

    3. Everybody will select two of five presidents of the USA and compare their lifes and political cariers (mainly international relations) and will pick one of them as the president of the USA.

  7. 1.You will be devided into groups of four and your task will be to find out informations about two totally different famous people from history of Britain.

    2.Write an essey and read it in front of your class.

    3.The essey will not be based on true facts they have found but written with power of imagination –what would happen and what would be reality like if they changed their place and time they lived in.Thus you need to know something about them.

    4. There will definitely be problems with a structure and an outline of the essey and also how they capture that individual life.

  8. 1) Task: How to become a romantic poet

    2) Final product: You will hand in the paper with a symbolism, narrative paragraph (200-250 words) and with one masterpiece expressing the mood of Coleridge´s poem. The paragraph will contain your own continuation of Coleridge´s poem The Rime of Ancient Mariner and the your symbols which can replace symbols in Blake´s poem The Tyger.

    3) At first find out main romantic poets. Than focus on Blake and Coleridge. Compare poems The Lamb and The Tyger. Find out another romantic symbols for innocence and darkness. Then read Coleridge´s poem The Rime of Ancient Mariner. Choose one part and make up your own continuation. All will be ended by one romantic masterpiece which can express the mood of this Coleridge´s poem.

  9. 1) Task: How would you act as a good President (solutions of problems, your behaviour as a whole)
    2)The final product: You will write an essay, which will include the comparison of several Presidents of the USA and you. What would you change if you were in their position.
    3) You will have to find all the facts about Presidents who you want to compare (acts which they did within their career, their personality traits) and also to familiarize with powers and laws of the USA policy.

  10. Task: Students will be divided into groups of 4 - 5; each group will work on their own story based on Geoffrey Chaucer's Canterbury Tales.

    Final product: A short tale (200-300 words) presented on a blog.

    Process: We suppose that our students have learned about Chaucer in Literature and that they have read at least one of the tales. At first they will summarize and enlarge their knowledge about Chaucer and his book and become aware of the structure of his tales.
    Then they will create their own character and their own story; this character can join the pilgrims from the book or take another journey. Due to the system of the blog, he can meet other characters created by other groups.
    Students will check the works of their classmates on the blog and share their ideas.

  12. The Task: You will be divided into groups of four. Everyone of you will become a treasurehunter and decryptologist.

    The Final Product: The final product will be PPT presentation about certain Sightseeings in Usti nad Labem.

    The Process: Each team will be given four extracts about different interesting places in Usti nad Labem. Every member of the team will choose one. Then he should find the particular place´s website. After that he will be given instructions about finding the code word. In the end of this quest each group will have four code words, which will picturized the final destination which must be included in the final PPT presentation.

  14. 1. Task: students will be divided into groups of four and become scientists, narrators and painters
    2. Final product: an essay (200-300 words), a picture of Loch Ness monster - on a paper
    3. Process:
    - find out some information and legends about Loch Ness and its monster
    - compare the legends with the scientific background
    - write an essay about a birth of the legends (e.g.: how the monster looked like, who saw it, how it behaved,...)
    - paint how in your opinion the monster looks

  15. Task: You will be divided into groups of 3-4. You will be asked to write an essay. Try to imagine how a court life under the reign of Elizabeth I. looked like, what kind of people were there (clothing, manners, etc).
    Subtask: Write down names of four people that were according to you the most important personalities on the Elizabethan court. Try to think about it in the groups and discuss why do you think they were important.

    Final product: Essey about 500 words that should be handed in untill next week.

    The Process: Think about the life on the Elizabethan court and work in the groups, cooperating and find out information
    about that era.
